One of the hardest parts of photography for me is choosing which ones make the cut. Especially with digital, when you can easily take hundreds of photos for one event, and often many are very similar, which one is the best? I find the choice gets easier with practice, but I'm still up in the air about these, taken on an afternoon ski with my folks one wintery Iowa day.
Canon 7D, 70mm f/6.3, ISO 250, 1/500s, WB auto
Canon 7D, 27mm f/6.3, ISO 250, 1/500s, WB auto
Canon 7D, 24mm f/9, ISO 250, 1/400s, WB auto
I'm partial to the last one, because it tells a story and I like photos that have juxtaposing images. What do you think?
my dear Watson i think youve hit on something! contrast always makes an image more engaging. even in clothing design. our pieces where we have mixed contrasting elements together are flying off the shelves.
ReplyDeleteOh I know it's the hardest thing. When I started falling in love with photography I never even knew if any of my photos were any good. And I was always surprised by which ones other people liked.
ReplyDeleteBut with practice, I feel like my eye has gotten a lot better.
And by the way, I like the second photo best, because I feel it gives all the layers of the story equal room.
I like the first photo for it's composition, but the second one for the fact Jessica mentioned, it gives the different layers of the story equal room. Balance.
