My friends Amber and JC asked me if I wanted to go check out their new piglets the other day. Of course! Who doesn't love piglets? I assumed they would be just like Tetley, the teacup pig.
It turns out piglets are not only large, dense (40-50 lbs), ear-splittingly loud, but also surprisingly strong. After they unloaded two pigs from the back of the truck, we watched them settle in to their new pen. The female pig was lively and bouncy, but the male may have a problem with his back leg.

I absolutely love the urgency in that top photo. Those piglets are no Tetley lazing in a teacup, that's for sure.
ReplyDeleteI really like all three of these. Can't decide which is my favorite: the first or the third one.
ReplyDeleteI love the story you convey in your photos. I'm getting a lot of vicarious pleasure out of watching young farmers get established. Show me more! Come back to the pigs later as they grow will you? Heck, follow them all the way to the plate. We never get to see the whole route our food travels. And keep the human element in it. I like how you captured the look on the guy's face as he grabs on to the pig, and also his interested attention as the pigs settle in. Makes me more interested too.
ReplyDeleteAh! I love the piglets-they are adorable. I hope they don't grow to much in a week and I may get to see them?
